DEC SPRING CENTURY!!

Memorial Day, Monday May 26th, 2008. 8:00 am Start

Start/Finish Point: Food Lion/K-Mart parking lot, next to the new Golden Corral on the corner of Hwy 24 and Piney Green Rd. in Jacksonville, NC. We will depart at 8:00 am Monday morning.

Route: Back Roads bike rout 3 through Hubert, to Swansboro. Hwy 24E to Hwy 58S and over the bridge to Emerald Isle. Back over the Atlantic Beach bridge into Moorehead City following Bridges Street back to Hwy 24W. Cut over to Hwy 58N to Maysville and returning through backroads into Belgrade, Hubert and back to Jacksonville. This ride was designed for riders wanting to do their first Century, we drop NO ONE and maintain a nice pace (16 - 18 mph) with breaks every 20 miles for food, bottle refills and body drainage;-) We recommend you complete a 50 - 65 mile ride before attempting you first century and be able to maintain a 16 mph pace while riding with a group. We will have a Sag Wagon with drinks (Gatorade & Water), some power food (bananas, grapes, nuts ect.) and repair items if needed. If you want to bring anything special (power gels, bars, butt massager;-) the wagon will carry it for you. A bike rack will also be on the vehicle in the event a rider can't finish or needs a break for a few miles. This is a social ride and not a race; however, there is a straight section on Hwy 58 from mile mark 65 to mile 80 in Maysville where riders will be encouraged to split into smaller groups and "open it up" to the next break area. There we will regroup for the final 20 miles home. ENJOY!!!
